Defensive Pistol 102, Morgan Hill, CA

Defensive Pistol 102 is a one-day course. Topics drilled on are; fundamentals of marksmanship, strong and weak hand reloads, strong and weak hand malfunction clearances, engaging multiple threats, shooting from cover/concealment, unconventional shooting positions, and fighting to your handgun. We focus on approaching the training in Defensive Pistol 102 from the home defense and CCW shooters view. Lectures can include topics of legal concepts, medical care, and mindset.

Defensive Pistol 101 or equivalent training is a requirement in order to take this course.

Tactical Medicine 101, Scotts Valley, CA

Tactical Medicine 101 is a one-day, eight (8) hour course which discusses the most common sources of death in a defensive environment. If you have spent your time and money on courses to defend yourself come spend some time with us learning the skills that you are much more likely to need to save the life of yourself, your family, or your friends and neighbors. Course is divided up into lecture and hands-on application.

Topics include:
• Basic understanding of violent trauma on the body.
• Major killers of violent trauma.
• Skills necessary to mitigate violent wounds.
• What tools/equipment you actually need in your personal kit.

EMTs, Paramedics, Eight (8) hours of CE available. There are no prerequisite requirements for this class but Basic CPR and 1st Aid training is beneficial.

Pepper Spray/Taser Personal Safety Academy, Scotts Valley, CA

A four (4) hour  class designed to give you the tools necessary to deter and defend against an attack.

Defensive Pistol 101 is our introductory course to using a pistol in anything more than a bench rest environment. This is a one-day class that covers basic gun safety and handling. Topics included are; drawing from a holster and engaging threats, reloads, and malfunction clearances. Lectures will include safety, mindset and basic legal concepts.

There are no prerequisites for this course but NRA Basic Pistol is always recommended for anyone who has had no formal pistol instruction.

Defensive Carbine 101, Morgan Hill, CA (SOLD OUT)

Hand guns are best to use to get to our long guns.  Defensive Carbine 101 is a one-day, eight (8) hour course designed to give students the fundamentals of operating their rifle in closer (25 yards and in) defensive engagements.  Students will gain a solid understanding of reloads, malfunction clearances, and weapon transitions.  Defensive Carbine 101 will focus on home and close up engagements with cover vs. concealment, ballistics, and shoot vs. non-shoot being discussed and drilled on.

Equipment needed:

  • Desire to learn.
  • Pen and paper.
  • Eye/ear protection, hat to deflect brass, sunscreen if outdoors.
  • Personal water supply.
  • Defensive rifle with appropriate sling for weapon transitions.
  • Defensive handgun (.32 caliber or higher) with strong side kydex holster and sturdy gun belt.
  • 500 rounds for rifle.
  • 100 rounds for pistol.
  • Dual magazine holder for pistol magazines.
  • 3-5 pistol magazines.
  • 3-5 rifle magazines.
  • Rifle magazine carrier (we ask that you have some way to carry at least 1-2 extra rifle magazines on you.  You do not need to buy a huge plate carrier for this class).
  • Personal “Blow-out Kit” or first aid kit (optional).
  • Knee/elbow pads (optional).

Low Light 101, Scotts Valley, CA

Low Light 101 is a Four (4) hour course that gives students the basic understandings of the transitioning environment from light to pitch black.  101 is the classroom, dry practice, and airsoft in the classroom or outdoor area session which is required prior to 102 which is the live fire module.

Principles of low light operations
Equipment set up and differences in lights
Dangers and advantages of low light
Basic hands on application of different light techniques with dry practice or airsoft

Utah (non-resident) CCW PM Session, Scotts Valley, CA (SOLD OUT)

A four hour course covering all legally required info for Utah’s CCW four-hour CCW requirements.  Non-Utah residents are able to apply for a CCW in Utah and given reciprocity throughout the United States (currently 34 states).  For a reciprocity map of resident and non-resident permits and their reciprocity please <click here>.

This class covers firearm safety, suicide prevention, use of force, travel restrictions, basic firearm function, and a completed finger print card signed by a certified Utah instructor.

After the class you will still need for your application a passport sized photo (available at UPS, FedEx, and Walgreen’s Photo locations, a photocopy of your California Driver License, and mail in all completed documents and applicable Utah fees to the State of Utah.

This is an all classroom session with no live fire requirement for the state.

Basic Firearms Safety Course

The Basic Firearms Safety Class is a four (4) hour class. Basic safety, handling, and legal ownership is discussed. This class is ideal for those that have no experience with a firearm and do not wish for a private session. Classes can run up to 17 people. Students are encouraged to take the CA DOJ Firearm Safety Card Test (you will be prepped) immediately following the class so plan on an extra hour. This class is held at Markleys Indoor Range and Gunshop and you must call Markleys to sign up at 831-722-6945.  Cost is $60 which includes class, safety equipment, gun rental, and targets. Ammunition for rental guns can be purchased from Markely’s.

Dry Fire Dojo Pistol Stage 2 is a two-hour class designed to teach and enforce malfunctions and reloads of both traditional and strong vs. weak hand only. Fighting from the ground up with unconventional positions, and SIRT Pistol with LASR APP timed evolutions to add stress.
