Defensive Pistol 101

Defensive Pistol 101 is our introductory course to using a pistol in anything more than a bench rest environment. This is a one-day class that covers basic gun safety and handling. Topics included are; drawing from a holster and engaging threats, reloads, and malfunction clearances. Lectures will include safety, mindset and basic legal concepts.
There are no prerequisites for this course but NRA Basic Pistol is always recommended for anyone who has had no formal pistol instruction.
Equipment list:
- Desire to learn.
- Pen/paper.
- Lunch.
- Defensive handgun .380 caliber or higher with strong side kydex holster.
- Dual Magazine carrier with 5 magazines (more makes for an easier training day).
- Ear and eye protection (electronic hearing preferred).
- 500 rounds of ammunition.
- Hat to deflect brass.
- Personal water supply.
- Sunscreen if outside.
- Individual first aid kit or blow-out kit (optional).

As of 07/25/2025 The Sig Sauer P320 (and variants) are not allowed in Defensive classes. They are permitted in CCW classes although other precautions will be taken with them.
