Defensive Pistol 101

Defensive Pistol 101 is our introductory course to using a pistol in anything more than a bench rest environment. This is a one-day class that covers basic gun safety and handling. Topics included are; drawing from a holster and engaging threats, reloads, and malfunction clearances. Lectures will include safety, mindset and basic legal concepts, other defensive tools available.

There are no prerequisites for this course but NRA Basic Pistol is always recommended for anyone who has had no formal pistol instruction.

Equipment list:

  • Desire to learn.
  • Pen/paper.
  • Lunch.
  • Defensive handgun .380 caliber or higher with strong side kydex hoslter and gun belt and dual magazine holder.
  • Ear and eye protection.
  • 500 rounds of ammunition.
  • Hat to deflect brass.
  • Personal water supply.
  • Sunscreen if outside.
  • Individual first aid kit or blow-out kit (optional).

Dry Fire Dojo is suitable for beginners to advance shooters.

Defensive Pistol 103, Morgan Hill, CA

Defensive Pistol 103 is our Team Tactics class.  We understand that we want to train as we hope to fight if that day comes.  This course is all about working together to solve problems 2-5 persons.  There is no time for basic fundamental instruction so students must have at least DP101 with us or equivalent with other schools.  Focus will be on civilian setting scenarios out in the world and in the home.  This class does involve movement and different shooting positions so some flexibility is required.

Topics to be covered:

  • Movement in pairs and groups up to five persons.
  • Verbal and non verbal commands.
  • Bounding in linear and non-linear paths.
  • Unconventional shooting positions.
  • Extraction under fire.

Students must have training history with NorCal MedTac or a verified competency by other training schools.

Defensive Pistol 102, Morgan Hill, CA

Defensive Pistol 102 is a one-day course. Topics drilled on are; fundamentals of marksmanship, strong and weak hand reloads, strong and weak hand malfunction clearances, engaging multiple threats, shooting from cover/concealment, unconventional shooting positions, and fighting to your handgun. We focus on approaching the training in Defensive Pistol 102 from the home defense and CCW shooters view. Lectures can include topics of legal concepts, medical care, and mindset.

Defensive Pistol 101 or equivalent training is a requirement in order to take this course.
